Amazon Packaging Certification Programmes
Amazon packaging certification programmes are designed to help reduce excess packaging, improve the customer experience and minimise product damage during fulfilment and delivery.
Smithers supports vendors, sellers and manufacturers seeking certification for:
- Frustration-Free Packaging (FFP)
- Ships In Own Container (SIOC)
- Prep-Free Packaging (PFP)
Our experts provide package testing in accordance with Amazon certification test methods and can help determine the most appropriate testing pathway based on your product, packaging format and certification objectives.
Amazon AMXL Packaging Testing
Amazon's AMXL (Heavy Bulky) network includes products that require specialised handling due to their size, weight or delivery characteristics. Products weighing 50 lb (23 kg) or more, large-format products, palletised shipments and other oversized items may fall within AMXL requirements. Amazon recommends that AMXL products meet ISTA 6-Amazon.com SIOC certification standards.
Smithers supports testing for large, heavy and oversized products through our Amazon package testing and certification capabilities, including the ISTA 6-Amazon.com SIOC package classifications commonly used for AMXL products.
Key Amazon Certification Requirements
To achieve certification, packaging may need to demonstrate that it:
- Is ready to ship with no need for additional packaging (SIOC and FFP)
- Protects the product against damage (SIOC and FFP)
- Meets Amazon sizing requirements (SIOC and FFP)
- Is easy for customers to open (FFP only)
- Is recyclable (FFP only).
