This test procedure is used to assess the performance of packaged-products when exposed to sudden shock caused by free fall event.
This procedure provides guidance on conducting free-fall drop tests for loaded boxes, cylindrical containers, bags and sacks. It can be used to conduct comparative studies on different packaging designs or can be used to evaluate the progressive failure of a container and its inner contents.
Note: This method is primarily used for containers that are exposed to manual handling at some point in the supply chain. It does not apply to large bulk containers.
