Smithers set to host the second installment of food contact materials and food additives conference

Smithers Pira's Food Contact & Additives will take place in Georgetown, Washington DC, from September 28-30, 2015.

Building on the success of the 2013 inaugural event, Smithers Pira will this year deliver another two-day conference focussed on legislative and regulatory updates in the US food market and beyond. Food Contact & Additives will take place in Georgetown, Washington DC, from September 28-30, 2015.

Unlike any other event in this sector, this forum brings together regulators, regulatory experts, brands, packaging companies, ingredient and additive suppliers, materials suppliers and testing services to give a unique perspective on food safety and best practices in manufacturing in this sector. Attendees will hear about the latest regulatory updates and discuss pending and potential future requirements as well as learning from a range of highly relevant case studies.

“We’re excited to be repeating this offering to the food packaging community and I’m sure this unique conference will prove to be another interesting and useful forum. Our food contact events are always well-received and, with the added benefit of this year’s advisory board’s expert insight, we are looking forward to engaging with the food additives community via this event.” Hayley Marsden, Event Director, Smithers Pira.

Confirmed advisory board members include the food contact and chemical analysis expertise of Smithers Pira’s very own Dr Alistair Irvine, in addition to legal experts Eric Greenberg, and Kevin Kenny of Decernis and industry professionals Miriam Maxwell, Senior Principle Regulatory Scientist, Corporate & Regulatory Affairs, Ocean Spray Cranberries and Nancy Higley, VP Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, Kerry Ingredients and Flavors.

Representatives of the Food and Drug Administration, Office of Food Additive Safety Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition have confirmed to be in attendance, and the conference agenda will not only cover all of the current regulatory developments and industry guidance in the US, Canada and China, that are impacting the market, but also include product recall case studies, a discussion of the supply of information along the supply chain, global compliance and harmonization.
