Food Contact & Additives 2017 will feature two pre-conference concurrent workshops taking place on Monday, September 25 on International Regulations. Specifically focusing on Asian and Latin America Regulations, this year's workshops will include:

The Asia Regulations Focus in China track, presented by Xiaolu Wang, Regulatory Research Analyst for 3E, will cover food contact and food additives on Notification and Approval of New Food Additives in China and Regulatory Updates on Chinese National Food Safety Standards for Food Contact Materials.

A track dedicated to The Latin American Regulations Focus on Mercosur presented by Kevin Kenny, Chief Operating Officer and Adrián Varela Alvarez, Regulatory Specialist Latin America, both of Decernis.

Session I: Update on Regulations

In this session we’ll review the latest updates for FDA and GRAS Notices, as well as Food Safety Modern Act. Also we’ll have a talk considering the need of harmonized legislative regulations for a market that it’s constantly changing.

Session II: Food Supply Chain, Data Management and Transparency

In this session we’ll focus on analyzing the importance of the supply chain in food contact and additives; different ecosystems and considerations on how food interacts with them. Safety concerns in food processing and data management. Transparency Challenges for companies eliminating chemicals of concern in food packaging.  

Session III: Parallel Paths in the Food Industry

This conference has two main sub groups inside the food industry: Contact and Additives, both are equally important to ensure safety and quality for the final consumer. We’ll dedicate this part of the program to work in divided groups in order to cover in more depth concerns for each side of the industry. 

Session IV: Technology

In this session we’ll review how technology is connected to the food industry, risk management, sterilization importance and nanotechnology in food packaging, alternative process and safer foods that follow compliance  

Day 2 Joint Sessions Begin: Session V: Sustainability

The joint sessions will begin after the 10:00 networking break.

This session will examine the state of the infrastructure for plastics recycling with a panel of seasoned industry experts, who will discuss some of the key advances that are modernizing the industry.  Learn about efforts to expand the universe of recycled plastics and the importance of brand manufacturer engagement.  Packaging design guidelines that allow plastics to be readily recycled and how to obtain Letters of No Objection to use recycled plastics in food packaging will be covered.  

Session VI: Consumer Trends in Food Contact & Additives

In this session the focus will be in market trends, what does it means for research, safety and development of new products. We’ll close the session with an analysis of the global trends in the industry and growth projections for the years to come.
