Testing of ID cards, Driving licences and Bank cards

Smithers Pira carries out a wide range of durability tests on identification cards, driving licences and bank cards. Card testing is made in accordance with British standard and International standard BS ISO/IEC 10373-1 (test methods) and ISO/IEC 7810 (specification) or ANSI INCITS 322.

ISO 10373-1 details a wide range of mechanical, environmental and dimensional tests for identification cards. Tests include card warpage, peel strength, resistance to chemicals (including salt spray), blocking, bending and torsional stiffness and opacity. ISO/IEC 7810 specifies the acceptable limits for these ID card properties.

Smithers Pira also carries out adversarial and challenge testing including the resistance to tampering and counterfeiting.
