Pira works with the Print and Packaging Industry Council in Trinidad and Tobago

22 March 2011

SpeakerSmithers Pira has recently worked with the Print and Packaging Industry Council of Trinidad and Tobago to assess new and emerging print and packaging technologies of potential development interest. T&T is one of the most prosperous islands within the Caribbean due to petroleum and gas production. Having earned an excellent reputation for international business and investment, T&T now wants to strengthen its print and packaging excellence.

SpeakerSmithers Pira consultants Martin Kay and Neil Falconer worked closely with the PPIC to develop a detailed insight into global print and packaging trends to develop regional strategies for T&T and CARICOM region.

The work involved:
  • An assessment of the current state - involving a complete assessment of the print and packaging industries in T&T, import and export profiles, and profiling of domestic manufacturing
  • New and emerging print and packaging technologies were identified and gap analysis techniques applied in order to prioritise technologies for further development
  • A detailed description of each opportunity and recommended course of action was provided
  • Presentation of the results to the PPIC together with individual site meetings.

The work follows on from a recent Smithers Pira study to establish a packaging testing laboratory at the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
