For 2011 Smithers Pira launched their Packaging Thought Leadership Award, which is designed to honour the most influential thought leader in the European packaging industry. The Packaging Thought Leader 2011 award acknowledges individuals who have a made a real impact within their company or in the industry as a whole.

Paulo Correia, R&D Director of Logoplaste as the winner of the award

Paulo will be presented with his award at the Smithers Pira Packaging Summit and will also present the closing keynote conference address, entitled "Innovation - The base for a sustainable company growth".

Here are a few reasons Paulo's colleagues at Logoplaste felt he should be crowned as Smithers Pira's Packaging Thought leader:
Since Paulo joined Logoplaste, he has managed more than 4500 developments projects for different areas of the world and participated in the definition of the package strategy for companies like Procter&Gamble, Danone, Nestlé, Coca-Cola, Arla Foods, Unilever and Heinz, etc... Some examples of the development work existing in the market, managed by Paulo are:
- Multilayer PET bottles for Heinz;
- Bottle for dishwashing liquid Fairy (Dawn) for P&G - included a partnership work with Sidel to develop a blowing machine capable of blowing preferential heat and neck orientated bottles;
- New lightweight neck for water bottles;
