Transit packaging provides convenience during shipping and handling. The market for materials and systems will grow from $101.4 billion in 2016, to $124.9 billion in 2022, at an annual rate of 3.5%.

Pallets, strapping, edge, corner protectors, insulating and weather-resistant pallet covers represent more than 50% of the market.  Drums, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), multi-wall sacks, bags, corrugated board, cartons, and flexible plastic stretch wrap films are also important.  Boxes, crates, rigid shipping racks, fixtures, dunnage materials, void filling materials like bubble wrap, and loose fill packing peanuts are important but less significant contributions to the value of the protective and transit packaging market.
