Exclusive Interview with Beat Noser, Director and Manager, Global Print, Credit Suisse

02 September 2010

Your talk is focused on cost reduction through continuous improvement - what role has technology played in achieving this?

New Technology (KODAK Inkjet Color Printers) was / is essential to achieve the savings. It allows us to change processes (e.g. Logo on demand) and also the consumables (e.g. ink) are cheaper than with laser printers.

How is print perceived in Credit Suisse in comparison with other marketing and communication options?

We are in the development phase to include also marketing options in the output. It's planned to start a project in 2011.

How has the recession of 2009 affected your print strategy and how have you responded to it?

We were not affected by the recession. rather we got the OK to invest with the goal to reduce costs.

What opportunities does this present to companies in the print supply chain?

It's important to have the end to end process (data, print, packing, postage) in the scope. Only if we can optimize all from the start to the end we can achieve the necessary savings (e.g. Logo on demand helps to reduce 2 channel packing production)

What are you looking forward to at the conference in Geneva?

I'm looking forward to meet people from other print centres and to discuss there situation and status of changes in this business.
