David Shires
Chief Consultant
Dave has over 25 years experience in packaging materials, development, testing and problem solving. Dave's know-how covers a broad range of sectors including food and beverage, household, medical, electronics and industrial applications. Dave has extensive knowledge of the performance of primary and secondary packaging through both filling line processes and subsequent transport and distribution. Dave's expertise covers issues such as leakage, integrity, sterility, line efficiency, cost reduction, damage in transit and on-shelf appearance improvement.
Dave has extensive knowledge of product testing and engineering of industrial goods through more than 10 years testing activity in durability and environmental testing, covering sectors including aerospace, automotive and defence.
Dave has an honours degree in Physics. David served for 6 years on the board of the International Safe Transit Association, he has lectures on the Packaging MSc course at Brunel and Loughborough Universities and is Editor-in-Chief of the international journal "Packaging Technology & Science".
Previously ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) Director, Dave is a member of ISTA's Global Technical Board and currently ISTA's Certified Packaging Professional in Europe. He is the course tutor for ISTA's CPLP programme (Certified Packaging Laboratory Professional) - has completed workshops in Spain in 2010 and 2011, and in the UK in 2012.
