Chris Berry
Head of Proficiency
Chris has more than 12 years experience in materials testing. He is responsible for Smithers Pira's Proficiency services and is an executive committee member of the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) Comparative Testing Service (CTS). Chris is also responsible for Test Method Developments within Smithers Pira's Packaging Technical Services group.
Chris has a broad knowledge of packaging materials and processes, and his main areas of interests are the development of bespoke testing methods for assessing and comparing the performance of materials, packaging or products using techniques that simulate real world use.
Chris has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, which he gained while working on a Smithers Pira lead research project investigating the behavior of packaging materials.
